Information Technology
Our school has made a huge commitment to
Information Technology.
All classrooms have 4 networked computers.
These computers are ‘state of the art’ and replaced every three years.
All computers have access to a wide range of
educational software, the Internet and MS Office Applications.
Every grade in the school receives one
session of instruction weekly in the Computer Technology Centre with a computer
specialist teacher.
Skills taught in computer lessons are implemented and applied in classrooms.

Preps
During a unit where chickens were
hatched, prep students’ digital drawings and writing were placed into a
PowerPoint format. Students were then recorded reading their sentences. The
resulting slide show was used in classrooms as part of Literacy.
Grade 1 and 2 students visited the zoo. They
used the graphics program KIDPIX to classify animals into groups.

Grades 3 and 4 have been looking at wetlands. They visited a local wetland where digital photos were taken. Students used MS PowerPoint to respond to their experience. They researched animals they saw and presented their findings to the whole class in a data show.
Grade 5 and 6 students have been studying
space. They used the Internet to research their chosen topic.
Students recorded their voices reading texts
and created hyperlinks to navigate through each slideshow. They used graphics,
transitions and customised effects to make their slideshow dynamic, informative
and interesting for their audience.
They presented a detailed slideshow of their
topic to the class in a data show on a large screen.
