Craigieburn South Primary School provides a sequential Indonesian Program from Grade Three to Grade Six.

Children in the Infant Department participate in an Indonesian Cultural Awareness Day, consisting of workshops in a variety of areas.

The children from Grades Three to Six learn how to use Indonesian effectively for many purposes and in many contexts. The grade six students travel to Ceres Educational Centre in Brunswick to experience the excellent Indonesian Program.  They are taught the art of Batik fabric design, learn about village life, puppetry and many other Indonesian customs.

Indonesian is taught as part of the curriculum in accordance with the Victorian Essential Learning Standards (VELS).

The students learn how the Indonesian language operates as a system and, through comparison, how other languages, including English, are structured and function.

The children gain direct insights into the Indonesian culture, which gives the language its life and meaning.

They consider their own culture, and compare it with the culture and country of Indonesia .
